At Wellness Professionals, we provide one on one physical therapy treatment in addition to chiropractic care to provide the best and most comprehensive rehabilitation for our patients. Physical therapy is a healthcare division that specializes in maximizing one’s quality of life through the rehabilitation of physical impairments or injuries. This may include problems with physical mobility such as standing, walking, running, climbing stairs, getting out of bed, getting up from a chair or commode, or any other physical activities. Physical therapy also addresses problems with balance as well as strength or range of motion (ROM) in any area of the body due to injury, illness, surgery, or even unknown causes. Often times, the primary concern of individuals seeking physical therapy care is PAIN. Pain reduction is one of the main focuses in an outpatient physical therapy clinic. This is done through a variety of therapies, including exercise therapy, hands-on manual therapy, or physical modalities.
If you believe that you are in need of physical therapy or if your doctor recommends physical therapy treatment for you, Wellness Professionals offers a unique and individualized approach to your care. Following a thorough examination by our physical therapist, the findings, recommendations, and goals for your treatment will be discussed with you. Together, you and the therapist will come up with a plan of care that works for you.
Our physical therapy treatments are individually developed based on each patient’s specific and unique needs. Our patients have a very high rate and speed of recovery, often seeing a 60-80% improvement within 12 visits. We accomplish these results by implementing an advanced method of stabilization that uses a spinal weighting system to correct postural abnormalities and develop proper structural stability. We also incorporate strengthening and ROM exercises according to your needs, spinal decompression for neck or back problems, modalities such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound for pain reduction, soft tissue massage & joint mobilization, and an emphasis on a home exercise program to maximize and sustain the benefits from physical therapy.
At Wellness Professionals, we are one of only a few clinics in Northwest Arkansas to offer both chiropractic care and physical therapy. When used in conjunction, these therapies have a tremendous advantage over traditional therapy. In a typical visit, we will begin with stretching and ROM exercises to loosen and relax the soft tissue. This is a necessary step to decrease the uneven and unequal pull of a tight muscle on the spine or other bony structures. This is followed by decompression for the neck or back (if indicated) to relieve pressure from the structures of the spine, including the bony segments (vertebrae), the intervertebral discs, and the nerves coming from the spinal cord. The next step is a chiropractic adjustment to realign the spine and/or extremities to their correct postural position. Once your body is in the best possible alignment, strengthening exercises are performed to stabilize your spine and joints in this correct alignment. It is imperative to strengthen the stabilizing muscles following a chiropractic adjustment to maximize the length of time that the adjustment will hold. The final step to our therapy approach is the use of physical modalities as needed. This may include massage therapy, aqua massage, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, or an ice pack. All of these steps provide a comprehensive and extremely therapeutic approach to helping our patients overcome their pain or physical impairments.
